Increase Sales by the Numbers

First, I would like to say that this is NOT a sponsored article. This came about because Darin Dixon of InsideSales.com commented on 4 Ways to Increase Site Leads saying:

We had great success with the same methods you talk about in this blog. We did narrow our target market so we made the appropriate changes to our website. What has most impressed us is the difference that our lead response time has made on our lead conversion rate. When we contact our web leads within minutes, our conversion rate almost doubles. We also try to call and email our leads each day for three straight days then put them in a trickle campaign. We are going to be implementing an auto call back feature as well. We’ll see how that goes.

To learn more, I contacted InsideSales.com (after hours) via the online form to download their white paper on “10 Steps to Quadruple Inside Sales Results” and was especially impressed by one thing. Within one minute, I received a phone call with an actually pleasant automated voice explaining that an InsideSales.com rep would contact me the next day and even explaining briefly that if I had called during business hours an actual person would have contacted me. Bear in mind the immediate response fits perfectly with the comment Darin Dixon left on Lead Optimize.com.

The next day, Troy Bingham contacted me to find out how he could help me and I had to take an number from him because I was in a meeting at the time. When I called back, I found the number he gave me was a direct line to him - something I really like.

I asked Troy about the quick response from the automated message and he told me their research has uncovered that 54% of sales go to the 1st person/company who contacted the lead. If I had contacted during normal hours, my phone would ring while an Insides Sales’ rep’s phone simultaneously rang and displayed my information on his screen. That is, we would be automatically connected. This is standard dialer software but I have not previously seen it used for such a fast response to an online lead.

Troy had an excellent quick and effective way to explain the services Inside Sales provides:

[Inside Sales] tools allow you to create a game plan for staying in touch with your leads.

From their website and white paper, I get a “sales by the numbers” feeling about their system(s). That is, if you call more, follow up more, email more, contact more, respond faster, and make yourself generally more informative and more accessible you will sell more and InsideSales.com provides tools to make all of that easier.

If your company sells over the phone and you are looking for a web-based CRM provider give InsideSales.com a chance. In the very least, you will learn a few things from them. They even claim to cost 30% less than their closest competitor.

    Hi Chris,

    We actually found very similar results with our site. If we respond to a site request in less than half an hour, our chances of closing the sale are close to 70%. The longer we wait, the less the chances are of closing the sale. Waiting for more than 24 hours lowers the possibility of closing the sale to less than 10%.

    Thank you for adding your experience. 70% close rate is certainly enough incentive to respond quickly.

    It looks like INVESP is mostly focused on SEO, Conversion rate improvement, and copy writing. I would like to to hear more about HOW you do it.
